The Las Vegas New York-New York Hotel

The Las Vegas New York-New York Hotel (the Vegas NY-NY Hotel) is a truly unique hotel, which is packed with fun activities and entertainment. Based on a New York City theme, the hotel is built in a series of towers, that resemble New York skyscrapers. Outside the hotel, there is also a replica of Brooklyn Bridge, and a replica Statue of Liberty, which towers over a pool representing New York Harbour.

Inside, the hotel is designed to emulate the streets and parks of New York City. You can walk through cobbled streets, complete with steaming manhole covers, visit the Bar at Times Square, or enjoy a bite to eat at the 'Village Eateries' Food Court, which is modeled on Greenwich Village. There is even an ESPN Zone, serving traditional American food in a sports-themed environment.

The main show in the New York-New York Hotel is Zumanity, by Cirque Du Soleil. This is an adult show, combining steamy displays of contortion and acrobatics, with sensual music. The show has great reviews and is well worth going to - make sure you book early to guarantee seats.

If you enjoy a sing-along and want a fun evening, you can't beat the Bar at Times Square which is just like a traditional neighbourhood pub. There is a cover charge for entry, and if you want to ensure a seat, this should be booked in advance. However, you will be sure to have a fantastic evening, singing along with the duelling pianos, in the fun and friendly pub atmosphere.

Although some of the rooms in the Las Vegas New York-New York Hotel may be considered to be slightly dated, they are perfectly adequate and even the standard rooms are very spacious. If you like an early night, it is recommended that you ask for a room that isn't too close to the roller coaster, as this ride frequently runs until midnight and the screams of passengers can be quite loud!

In general, the rooms and suites at New York-New York are very reasonably priced and therefore are good value. However, you should be aware that there is a phone service fee of $3 per night per room, which allows you to make unlimited free local calls from the telephone in your room.

The Las Vegas New York-New York Hotel is positioned between the Monte Carlo Hotel and the Excalibur Hotel, and is across the Strip from the MGM Grand. This is a good location, with lots of fun things to see and do in the immediate area. However, it is at the South end of Las Vegas Strip, so you will have a walk or a short bus ride if you want to visit the hotels in the center of the Strip.
