The Las Vegas Luxor Hotel
The Las Vegas Luxor Hotel is a spectacular building, composed of black glass, in the shape of a pyramid, with a huge sphinx guarding the front entrance. After dark, the Luxor Skybeam, (a huge spotlight, believed to be the brightest beam in the world), shines from the center of the pyramid into the sky. This light can be seen from up to 250 miles away on a clear night, and the hotel's website claims that it can also be clearly seen from outer space. Luxor AttractionsAs well as the hotel's fascinating design, the hotel has the following attractions that set it apart from the other Strip Hotels:

Luxor Hotel PoolThe Luxor Hotel has a fun and busy pool area, with four pools, a whirlpool, and lively music. The pool opening times are between 9am and 7pm every day during the summer months, although you should be aware that not all of the pools are open all the time. Luxor Hotel Shows & EntertainmentThe main long-running show in the Las Vegas Luxor Hotel is the CRISS ANGEL Believe by Cirque du Soleil. This show stars the master illusionist, Criss Angel, whose amazing mind tricks combine with incredible dancing to produce an unforgettable, yet unbelievable show. In the Atrium Showroom, the Luxor presents two adult shows. These are 'Fantasy', which features topless beautiful women, in a sensual performance of a singing, comedy and choreography, and the award-winning stand-up comedian, 'Carrot Top'. There is also the fantastically funny 'Menopause The Musical' show, which celebrates women and the change, and features musical parodies of songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Luxor Hotel Rooms & SuitesThe original accommodation in the Las Vegas Luxor Hotel is in the pyramid and is reached via elevators that move along the inside of the pyramid at an angle. Outside of the pyramid rooms, open hallways look out over the atrium. There are also 2 additional towers that are also a part of the hotel, and which were added some years after the original pyramid construction. The Luxor is a relatively old hotel, and so the rooms in the pyramid are not the most modern on the Strip. Also, some people dislike the lighting in the pyramid rooms, which is quite dim. The tower rooms are more up-to-date, so if the style of your room is important to you, you might consider paying a few extra dollars for an upgraded tower room. Regardless of the type of room you choose, the rooms and suites in the Luxor are clean, and are good value for money. However, you should be aware that you will be charged an additional 'resort fee' of $12.95 per night, which covers internet use, newspaper delivery, 2 bottles of water, admission to the Nurture Fitness Center, and unlimited local & domestic long-distance telephone calls from your room or suite. LocationThe Las Vegas Luxor Hotel is positioned between the Excalibur Hotel and Mandalay Bay. This is at the southern end of Las Vegas Strip, and is a good walk, or a short bus ride, from the central Strip attractions. However, there is lots to see and do in the immediate area, and there is a free tram that runs between the Luxor and its neighbouring hotels. |
